"Hi. My name is Richard Strong Ortiz. My mommy, daddy and brothers call me Richie. I was born with what my doctor called an incomplete unilateral cleft lip. My daddy and mommy told me that I have a kiss from God right there! I had surgery when I was ten weeks old and I have a team of friends who are going to take care of me for as long as I need it. My mommy and daddy say there are a lot of other children who have the same exact lip as me who need the same support and care as I do, so together we are going to pack up my stroller and walk at a really neat park to raise money for all of my friends. My family is so excited and I am too! I hope you and your family will come too."
